The Big Apple

Last week I went on a trip to the east coast with my dad to visit some colleges.
Plane ride from Seattle to New York.

Made it.
Father leaving Nom de Guerre.
A chinese shoe repair place the size of a coat closet.
The buildings in Manhattan were a visually stunning collage of styles.

We went to The Museum of Chinese in America. This was an antique toy on display, when you pull the trigger the white guy pulls the chinese guy's braid and kicks him.
Ran into an old friend: Siobhan aka Eyeris.

Had dinner at Momofuku with one of my favorite artists, Tom Sachs. Cecilia Dean, editor and co-founder of Visionaire, was also present. The mass of pork in the picture was super fuckin' good and the conversation was even better.

Parsons' architecture department.
Ran into one of my favorite skateboarders/photographers/people of all time, Jerry Hsu, in The Ace Hotel elevator. I was so nervous and excited that I accidentally got off on the wrong floor. When I saw him again leaving the lobby I had to get a picture.

Heading to Brooklyn to visit Pratt.
Pratt's campus was beautiful!
Pratt's fully functional engine room.
The fashion in New York was ridiculous, not the Portland fashion I'm used to.
Met up with Matt and Mao and went back to Brooklyn to see Williamsburg and Dumbo.
Williamsburg.

Ran into Bon! Check out his new (art, fashion, and)food magazine: PULP.
Heading to Dumbo.

Bye bye New York.

After New York I went to Providence Rhode Island for an afternoon to check out RISD, which was gorgeous. I even got to meet briefly with the president, John Maeda, which was very interesting. Unfortunately I had to give Matt back his film camera so I couldn't get pictures...
